How do you organise a billboard, and where can it be installed? Standard billboards are landscape 2.4m long x 1.2m tall. You will need to book dates for your billboard to be on display. Your Wairarapa print company may be able to install the billboard for you at a reasonable cost.

South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) - Contact the Amenities Coordinator at the SWDC to discuss signage guidelines and costs for installing a sign at the base of the Remutaka Hill (Featherston side).
Clareville Grounds - A&P Society - billboards can be installed at the Clareville Grounds on SH2 (just north of Carterton). Contact the office for availability and charges.

If you wish to install a billboard along SH2 (Featherston to Pahiatua) or SH53 (Featherston to Martinborough), please read the NZTA guidelines and liaise with SWDC.

Props, Structure & General Building

With a wealth of knowledge, tools and practical skills - and usually for a donation, it’s worth approaching the Menz sheds in the region if you require something built for your event. It’s always worth asking. Menz Sheds are located in Featherston, Carterton, Masterton (Henley), Martinborough, Eketahuna and Pahiatua.

Ticketing

There are many online ticketing options, but there isn’t a designated Wairarapa ticketing agency. If your event requires a ticketing provider, you will be required to sign a contract with the agency you select. Be cautious about fee structures and be clear about what your ticket price includes. You’ll need to decide whether your ticket price includes inside and outside charges. Consumer NZ states ‘The “inside” price is the face value of the ticket. The largest proportion will go to the promoter. “Outside” fees are everything over the face value of the ticket: booking (aka transaction), delivery and payment-processing fees.’

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of many festivals and events. If your event requires a team of volunteers for a variety of roles, contact local Wairarapa schools, sports clubs and associations as they can often source a team of volunteers (often the parents) in exchange for a donation to their organisation. It’s important to look after volunteers at your event. Make sure they are well briefed about your expectations, health and safety plans and, most importantly, that they are fed and watered at your event and they are thanked for volunteering! Waste Management

Each Council is responsible for rubbish and recycling depots across the Wairarapa. Each depot is only open on specific days and times of the week. To find out if a depot to be open for the disposal of rubbish and recycling after your event, contact the relevant council.
